September 16th was a special day in Cullen as we celebrated 50 years of the opening of current Cullen N.S. The day began with the pupils partaking in a special mass. They brought candles in a procession representing deceased pupils and staff of the school. Pupils participated fully in the mass as well as singing in the choir and playing several tunes on tin whistle.
After Mass all attendees transferred to a marquee on the school grounds where they enjoyed delicious refreshments contributed from the parents, staff and community. The pupils played many tunes on the tin whistle accompanied by former pupil Kevin Kinane and directed by Abby O’Connell.
‘A Lifetime of Memories’ by Ger Riordan was launched on the day. Many pupils and teachers past and present contributed their memories of their time in the school. Congratulations to all involved.
Many thanks to the parents and the local community who made this event so memorable and enjoyable.
