Grandparents were invited to the school to celebrate Grandparents Day on Friday 1st Feb. As Grandparents Day is an integral part of Catholic Schools Week the pupils started the day by attending mass in the church. The pupils played a selection of slow air tunes during the mass ans some children read the Prayers of the Faithful. following Mass refreshments were served to the Grandparents in the school. Afterwards the pupils and teachers listened to Seán Quinlan speaking about life in school and at home when he was growing up. He spoke about the old school building, the subjects taught in the school; and the games they played. He discussed what life was like at home – no electricity, local transport, no cars only bicycles and trains. He told them what life was like during World War 2 – the emergency and how people were self sufficient. The pupils asked Seán many interesting questions and gained a lot of knowledge about the local history in Cullen from a living legend. Thank you so much Seán.
