We are going for our 3rd GREEN FLAG for WATER this year.To date we have completed the second audit of our water conservation, having put some changes into action e.g.
- Water saving awareness in the classrooms
- Hippo type bottles in the toilet cisterns
- Signs to encourage water saving
We monitored our water usage over a set time again and we have made a saving of 1.5l per person per day.We visited the water treatment plant in Kilmallock, where we saw how water is treated to make it safe to drink. The children had a great day and learned a lot. Our day of action involved, water experiments where the senior room made their own filters ans tested them. They investigated the effect of wet wipes versus tissues on pipes. The junior room did floating and sinking experiments and made a collage of ways we use water and animals that use water to live in.
We hope to renew our flag this summer.
