Time for our annual nature walk outside the school and up the Rocky Road. The pupils learned about the different plants growing in hedgerows. They gathered samples of ivy, sycamore and hawthorn leaves and their fruits. They looked at crab apples and at the blackberries growing on briars. They examined nettles but decided to leave them growing at the side of the road – a wise decision! They learned about three breeds of cattle munching happily in nearby fields – the Black Angus, a ginger coloured Charolais and a massive Limousin bull. On the way home they stopped and admired a house with s thatched roof. They thought it looked lovely and cosy.
