An officer from Plastic Free 4 Schools came to school recently and spoke to the pupils about reducing, reusing and recycling materials in school and at home. She had the pupils fully engaged as she explained how plastic is destroying our landscape, our oceans and killing our sea animals and birds. She stated that plastic is broken down into tiny pieces called ‘microplastics’ by the weather and by the sun. She demonstrated how the insides of animals and birds are destroyed by ‘microplastics’. The pupils were intrigued to see the insides of soft toys full of ‘microplastics’. The pupils are fully engaged in reusing plastic containers for their lunches from now on.
