Pupils in the senior room experienced a trip back in time when they visited the Flying Boat museum in Foynes co. Limerick. They saw and explored a life size model of the flying boat called the Yankee Clipper. Most flying boat activity took place during World War 2. The pupils learned that travel on the flying boats was restricted to passengers such as Allied military staff, politicians, celebrities and refugees fleeing war torn Europe. The pupils enjoyed the experience of flying as a pilot in a flying boat. Next part of the tour was visiting Basecamp Adventure Park near Shanagolden for an afternoon of Splatball. Here the pupils enjoyed dressing up in combat gear and armed with guns setting off on a ‘mission’ in a large forest area shooting at the ‘enemy’. Great fun was enjoyed by all.
